Today I stopped by to check out the Fall Festival at Matthews Winery here in Woodinville .
The invitation read “We are turning our picnic area into our very first Matthews Pumpkin Patch! In addition to the pumpkins for sale, we will also be selling dried corn husks, pumpkin pies, cider, and wine! Bring your family and friends out to enjoy our wines and the festive Fall activities!”
“Additionally, there will be some hay bales stacked up for a photo opportunity, a small kids craft, and some samples of meats and cheeses along with a demonstration on how to make a great charcuterie platter this holiday season.”
And of course, Matthews was offering wine tastings as well.
I got there a few minutes after noon and found people already enjoying wine on the front patio.
Inside, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with plenty of room for families to spread out at big tables.
Someone spent a lot of time setting out festive autumn decorations, lighting candles and attractively arranging pumpkins and squashes!
Soon these tables will be filled with festival-goers and their wine glasses!
Then again, on a nice 61 degree semi-sunny day, perhaps people would congregate on the outdoor patios instead. I saw employees bringing out propane to light outdoor heaters, as well.

Several beautifully decorated areas provided opportunities for parents to photograph their kids enjoying the day.
I saw several parents with small children exploring the grounds.
This charming little stand was set up to sell fall goods from Ecolibrium Farms.
On offer were ornamental pumpkins, culinary pumpkins, carving pumpkins, corn husks, you-cut flowers, and organic pumpkin pies.
I’m wondering if these are part of the “you cut flowers” offered! So colorful and pretty!

I’m sure I’m not the only one with fond memories of using these Adirondack chairs here at Matthews over the summer!
The chairs have been stacked away for fall and winter, but the picnic area is still usable.
This pumpkin patch offers the easiest “picking” around. No need for a knife! Perfect for toddlers and young kids – they can wander over and select their favorite from the patch.
On my way out I stopped by the crowded, popular tasting table, where jams, cheeses and meats were being sampled.
So delighted that this family-friendly wine-tasting autumn activity is available here in Woodinville!
