A Quick and Lovely Autumn Lunch at The Hollywood Tavern

Jen and I met up for a Woodinville Wine Blog brainstorming session on a recent chilly autumn afternoon. We hadn’t been to The Hollywood Tavern in quite a while, and wanted to drum up some excuse to run into Woodinville Whiskey Co. to shop for whiskey. (Like we need an excuse!)

We looked longingly at the outdoor seating area and fire pit, but thought it might rain again, so we chose a cozy small table in the dining room instead.

Unusually for us, we weren’t heading out wine tasting right after lunch, so we thought we’d might as well enjoy some Woodinville wine with our meal. Jen chose a glass of Chateau Ste. Michelle syrah, and I decided on a glass of Due Anni from Patterson Cellars.

Jen was immediately tempted by the drunken clams. They’re made with lots of butter, and whiskey from next door.

For my starter, I chose the Tavern Corn Bread. I initially was disappointed by the small size, but it’s drizzled with Woodinville Whiskey Co. syrup so that distracted me. It feels like a waste of the delicious whipped butter – such a large portion, served to accompany a couple tiny bites of (delicious) cornbread.

Jen ordered the Tiller salad, which includes salami sticks, chicken, bacon, and aged provolone.

I try not to be an annoying vegetarian, so meekly asked if the Tavern Club sandwich could be possibly be made vegetarian without too much trouble. Our friendly waitress was nonplussed and happy to omit the chicken and bacon. This tasty sandwich came with perfectly toasted bread, tomatoes, avocado and crunchy cajun chips. I loved it! Plus it came with a large amount of the addictive Hollywood Tavern house fries.

As always, the service here at the Hollywood Tavern was friendly and prompt, and the dining room quiet enough to enjoy our conversation. We love this place, and hope you’ll enjoy a meal here soon too.
