Learning About Fall Wine Production With Pam and Julie From Adrice Wines

A few weeks ago, Carrie and I stopped into Woodinville’s Adrice Wines (pronounced “address“) for an update on their Fall wine releases and just to say hello to these fabulous ladies! Pam Adkins and Julie Bulrice were exceptionally attentive and even agreed to star in a few of our social media videos. (Awesome!!) We are always thrilled to have any opportunity to talk to winemakers and winery owners, and to have them agree to speak in our video was an honor.

The tasting room lineup included some amazing Woodinville wine!

Adrice Wines was founded by Pam and Julie in the Napa Valley in 2012.  They moved to Woodinville in 2016. I asked Pam how many cases of wine they are producing each year and she told us it is around 3000. That is a 750 percent increase in production since moving to Woodinville!

The tasting lineup was delicious.  I was particularly eager to taste the Fool’s Gold and the Synergy Port.  Both really impressed me. I think that the experience of tasting wine in the company of its winemaker is one that is memorable.  We are so lucky to experience Woodinville wine this way!

Rosie the Riveter can add cheer to your Christmas tree, should you so desire. These ornaments are for sale in the Woodinville tasting room. Also shown here is one of three Rose wine offerings that you will find at Adrice: a Grenache, a Nebbiolo and a Syrah.

Winemaker Pam Adkins shared many stories with us about the history that she and Julie have had in the winemaking industry. We heard about the background on their winemaking, the fantastic growth of their winery, and more. Wine club members will be familiar with the way that Pam and Julie involve and educate their guests, as this hands-on approach is incorporated into the Woodinville winery’s wine club memberships.  For more on how to join and become a part of the Adrice family, click here.

Fool’s Gold was a wine that I had been very much looking forward to trying. This Bourbon-aged Syrah earns its moniker because it will fool you as you drink it – it does not taste how it smells! Julie said, “We learned that after a tour of a Tennesee distillery, Pam decided to age her Syrah in a bourbon barrel for 4-5 months.” The result is not a Syrah that contains any bourbon but does offer a nose of vanilla and caramel followed by a smooth mouthfeel that Carrie and I both loved.

Anyone who has been in Woodinville wineries and out wine tasting with me knows my obsession with Port wine (if it is offered, I must buy it!). Adrice has created a Ruby Port-style port called Synergy. For this delicious Washington dessert wine, Pam uses Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain instead of a Portugal style varietal.

I loved the clever bottling of this port-style Fool’s Gold and then immediately upon finishing it, wished I had the larger bottle.

You can visit Pam and Julie and the rest of their staff at Adrice Wines on Friday from 2-6 pm as well as Saturday and Sunday from 12-6 pm.  The tasting room is located at 18800 142nd Ave NE, Suite A-1A, Woodinville, WA 98072.

Enjoy your visit and let us know about your wine tasting experience in the comment section!
