Our Recent Lunch at Heritage Restaurant in Woodinville – Despite Coronavirus

Once a week, an old friend of mine (Courtnee) and I meet up for lunch in Woodinville. We go on a couple of errands, take a trip to a grocery store (probably Haggen) for supplies, watch an episode of Picard and then embark on an epic cooking adventure. We make dinner for my boyfriend who arrives home from work super hungry and tired. We’re experimenting with my Instant Pot alot of the time, to great success (thanks to YouTube Instant Pot tutorial videos).

Recently, despite our city’s coronavirus panic, we had lunch at Heritage Restaurant + Bar here in Woodinville. We were glad to see a table of ten corporate people having lunch, and another table or two for two people. But it definitely was quiet, and I worried about the waitstaff and how they are getting along. A sign on the front door detailed how the restaurant is working to keep sanitized, clean and safe for customers.

Courtnee began their lunch with two Hama Hama oysters. Our waitress could tell us exactly where they were sourced from (but I forget, sorry!)

We both decided it was a good day for soup, and I was delighted that today’s soup of the day was a vegetarian lentil vegetable soup. Both of us ordered the Heritage Lunch Trio: soup, fresh baby lettuce salad, and a half sandwich – Courtnee’s a BLT with the bacon as it comes, and mine was a vegetarian LT option.

I knew my tea aficionado friend would appreciate the excellent teas served at Heritage. (I personally indulged in a glass of Albarino from Alexandria Nicole Cellars. Our waitress told me this restaurant is the only one serving ANC’s Albarino!)

Courtnee was delighted with their Gingerbread Dream Rooibos tea and somehow managed to talk our wonderful waitress into selling them some of the loose leaf tea! I knew Courtnee would appreciate the beautiful, delicate vintage teacup and saucer that Heritage serves their teas in.

For dessert, Courtnee succumbed to the siren call of the Dark Chocolate Pot de Creme. I quickly snuck a tiny taste before she ate it all up!

I chose the cheesecake, which has bourbon-roasted peaches (!) and spiced pistachios on top.

We’d love to encourage you to patronize local small businesses in Woodinville like Heritage Restaurant + Bar during this difficult time, if you are in good health, not in the age group asked to stay at home, and not overly anxious about the virus.

All the restaurants in Woodinville we’ve talked to, including Heritage, are taking enormous precautions to keep staff and customers safe. They’re sanitizing carefully, asking employees and customers to stay home if they have any symptoms of illness, and creating curbside delivery options.

Let’s eat local and help our restaurants and service staff through this difficult economic time!
