Finally Sitting Down to Enjoy the J. Bookwalter Outdoor Patio!

I had stopped into J. Bookwalter Winery in Woodinville on several occasions, and had stocked up on their 2018 Readers Cabernet Sauvignon during many of Costco trips. Somehow though, I had never sat down on the patio for a full tasting!? I don’t know how that is possible, and I was seriously missing out because the patio is gorgeous.

Carrie and I had stopped at Alexandria Nicole Cellars earlier that afternoon, and enjoyed an amazing glass of frose before crossing the parking lot to Bookwalter. Kevin greeting us with a smile as soon as we walked in, and we ran through safety screening steps before heading out to the patio. We found ample table seating and plenty of open air space mixed with a sunny day – it was divine!

When you visit, be sure to look out for this tasty Chardonnay, 2017 Double Plot. I never pretend that Chardonnay is my favorite but I do enjoy tasting different options.

This was the second tasting of the lineup this afternoon, and we wanted you to see this gorgeous patio! Carrie and I are often asked about which wineries have patio seating. This one is spacious, with umbrellas, shade and plenty of sidewalk appeal with the bustle of Woodinville traffic below.

Is this a cool label, or what? The Scarlet Hexflame Rose is always so eye catching with it’s vivid and beautifully packaged bottle. This is a great value wine and definitely doesn’t disappoint me whenever I snag a bottle of it to enjoy at home. We also admired the new tasting glasses at J Bookwalter, I love the shape and weight of them!

Here I am, cheesing it up.  I was enjoying myself in this perfect summer afternoon! Kevin was awesome at making sure our tasting stayed on the appropriate time-track, and at explaining the wines in the lineup to us.  Carrie and I appreciated that!

The 2017 Conflict is savory and drinking delicious right now, but will continue to get only better with 5 more years in the cellar. It is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Syrah from the Yakima Valley. This month you can get a bottle of this on sale for $45 a bottle, to honor Washington Wine Month!

This bottle of 2015 Chapter 8 is stunning from start to finish. It is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah, and is rich, smooth with flavors of dark fruits and spices. This is what I would consider a special occasion wine, given the price point is higher than my average bottle purchase ($120), but it was wonderful!

The J. Bookwalter Woodinville tasting room is located in the heart of Woodinville’s Hollywood District and they are open 7 days a week and by appointment. This gorgeous patio is open during the summer months only.  If you have not yet been J. Bookwalter Winery’s Woodinville tasting room, get there while we still have this warm weather to enjoy.

Cheers!

~Jen
