A Cozy and Social Saturday Evening at Armstrong Winery

On a recent Saturday evening, I grabbed my fiancé by the hand and said, “Let’s go wine tasting!” He was happy to come along with me and Armstrong Winery was a perfect place to stop for his first tour of Woodinville tasting rooms.

When we arrived at this family-owned tasting room, it was bustling! We happily slid up to the remaining two barstools and were instantly greeted by the lovely Joan. She assured us that she would be right with us and made us feel welcome. I am always impressed when I receive personalized attention at a busy establishment!

My fiancé James really enjoyed his first wine tasting!  This intimate setting was the perfect way to get him acquainted. We took the time to enjoy ourselves and socialize with other guests as Joan made her way to everyone in the room.

The lineup of red wines was very impressive! We purchased two bottles of the 2014 “Fronk”, which we found smooth, with notes of strawberry and cocoa. The wine club at Armstrong Winery offers a customized selection in the Fall and Spring, or you can opt to receive the shipments that they pick for you.

In addition to it’s production facility and tasting room in Woodinville, Armstrong Family Winery is opening a new tasting room in downtown Walla Walla at the beginning of April 2018.  One of ideas that Carrie and I have been tossing around is to take a tour of wineries in Eastern Washington this summer, and I think this new space will be at the top of our list.

You will find plenty of seating at Armstrong, along with standing tables and seating at the wine bar. In the warmer months, the bay doors open to a patio, letting the fresh air inside.  I plan to come back again and enjoy it.

Here is a photo of me enjoying a generous pour of “The Scotsman Syrah” . I think this is after I had asked Joan if they were still serving charcuterie boards that evening. Small bites are always appreciated, especially when we plan more than one wine tasting!

Our wine tasting experience was extremely enjoyable and this made it easy to convince my fiancé that it is something we can call a new pastime. Cheers to that!
