An Afternoon Exploring Basel Cellars’ Woodinville Tasting Room

I finally had the opportunity to join Carrie at Basel Cellars’ Woodinville tasting room recently.  I had wanted to visit and check out their Bordeaux inspired wines for months!

A lush patio and chalkboard sign awaited us as we pulled up to Basel, and I wished we had just a bit more time that afternoon to sit back and enjoy the pretty flowers and outdoor seating.

I love this friendly patio! This location offers ample parking and right next door, you will find Cascade Cliffs Winery.

Our first tasting of the day was this 2016 Vue des Blues Semillon, and we immediately picked up refreshing notes of green apple and honeysuckle, with a subtle oak finish.  The was a very balanced white.

We then moved on to this 2901 Rosé, made from 100% Syrah grapes. Just look at that beautiful salmon color! As this is a dry rosé, I would pair it with charcuterie or an heirloom tomato salad with loads of fresh basil!

I love how this table is set up in front of the bay door, and washed in soft light.  The base of the table is so cool! Doesn’t it remind you of the  Eiffel Tower in Paris?

This 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon was a beautiful deep, rich red, blended from five vineyards (Double River, Double Canyon, Phinny Hill, Wallula and Gamache)! It is composed of 91% cabernet sauvignon and 9% cabernet franc varietals. I took home a bottle of this and enjoyed with a meaty spaghetti.

Here I am posing in front of the gorgeous wine bar.  You can see the tasting lineup on the counter behind me. Kevin, who manages the tasting room was very friendly and we talked for awhile about photography and cameras, which I always love to do.

Next up was this Columbia Valley 2013 Malbec.  This 100% Malbec had notes of herbs and spices and I could taste hints of cherries.

This logo filled wall is quite striking and depicts Basel Cellars’ 96 acre Estate in Walla Walla, WA.  I am currently planning a wedding, so the beautiful photographs of this estate house  interest both me and my fiancé! I think we might plan a visit in early Autumn – and pray the pool is still open.

Go take a look at some of the incredible images here.
