An Enchanted Evening with Serret at Tandem Dinner & Wine Bar

Recently, my friend Serret (from Serretabella Images) and I were out wine tasting in Woodinville, and became quite hungry by late Sunday afternoon. It suddenly occurred to me that Serret might never have been to a meal at Tandem Dinner & Wine Bar.

I suspected she would not only love their excellent food, but also be so enchanted by their charming gardens and lovely landscaping. I was delighted to be able to take her to such a wonderful experience on our Girls Day Out and near the start of her birthday month!

We didn’t have reservations and the patio was absolutely packed with diners, so I was so grateful when our hostess/waitress, Scarlett, found us an adorable, cozy, tiny table for two in the garden. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant, but on such a beautiful evening, we’d hoped to be outdoors in the fresh air and also able to hear the live music being performed. (The musician was Captain Mike).

Scarlett started us off with water in their adorable green Mason glass jars, and a surprise pour of a white wine to start us off.

After drinking wine all day, we were in the mood for a cocktail with our dinners. I ordered a French 75, so crisp and refreshing.

Serret ordered a Sazerac.

Cheers! We toasted to friendship and adventures.

It was fun to watch Serret cooing and exclaiming as she explored the patio gardens here at Tandem Dinner & Wine Bar. She captured this lovely shot of some of the statuary, with garden lights and cute iron tables in the background.

Scarlett brought out this scrumptious bread and butter, which we gobbled up shamelessly.

This was the perfect amount of bread – so many restaurants seem to bring an entire loaf, most of which gets wasted.

It was hot, so while we were hungry, we weren’t quite in the mood for a huge meal. We decided to share the seasonal gnocchi appetizer and a salad, and Serret ordered a cup of French Onion soup. Balancing all four dishes on our tiny table was a fun adventure and made us giggle.

Serret’s French Onion soup came with a flowering herb on top (lavender?)

We’d ordered the seasonal special appetizer, a gnocchi with acorn squash and kale.

The kitchen was kind enough to omit the chorizo on my half (I’m vegetarian) and to split it into two plates so Serret could have chorizo on her half.

The Parisian salad comes with blueberries, olives, tomatoes and some sliced peppers.

We really enjoyed Captain Mike’s music, especially his Tom Petty cover, which made me tear up a little.

It might have been too hot to dive into two huge entrees, but of course Serret and I found our renewed appetites in time to order the heavenly Marionberry Pie dessert. With ice cream on top, naturally!

Lisa, the owner, kindly sent out twenty-year port as a surprise treat for us to accompany our pie. She was a flurry of activity, checking to see that everyone’s meal was enjoyable, visiting with people at their tables, and stopping by to meet Serret.

The fire pit makes this corner of the patio so inviting and welcoming.

Note the thoughtful touches – soft blankets to make the seating more comfortable, candles and vases of flowers, seating arranged to make conversation easy.

Someone works so hard to keep all these pretty potted plants and flowers alive and perky in this heat!

It was wonderful to relax in the gardens while finishing my glass of port.

I hope to bring my boyfriend here for a romantic date night soon!

We highly recommend Tandem Dinner & Wine Bar for a splendid experience and delicious meal. It’s located at 15029 Redmond-Woodinville Rd NE, Woodinville, WA 98072.
