Wine Wednesday – Our Midweek Tasting at Columbia Winery

For our Wine Wednesday tasting this week, Carrie and I decided to take a look around Columbia Winery, the largest winery venue in Washington State.  Our wine steward, Brooke was friendly and so helpful during our tasting and gave us great information about the wines we were enjoying.

The stately entrance hints at the 50-year history of Columbia Winery’s innovative winemaking from Washington AVAs. Winemaker Sean Hails selects vineyard sites from all of the diverse wine regions within the Columbia Valley.

This petunia-filled hanging basket was so stunning hanging in the sunlit, wrap-around porch. I love how the basket resembles an old wine barrel.

Columbia Winery is open until 7 PM every Friday for their Foodie Friday Live nights. These festivities feature local indie artists and discounts on small bites, as well as wine by the bottle and glass.

Carrie and I both enjoyed the airy feeling of this covered porch. The trees and hanging baskets give it just enough privacy but will still allow guests to people watch.

Columbia Winery wine club members enjoy complimentary tastings at four sister wineries in California. Members also receive 20% off of wine purchases, 25% off 12 bottles or more and 15% off regular priced non-wine merchandise.

This outdoor seating nook is perfect for meeting up with a group of friends to listen to Columbia’s Summer Concert Series on the lawn.  This concert series takes place on Sundays  2 – 5 PM,  August 6th through September 23rd. Definitely worth checking this out!

I had to snap a photograph of this stunning tree. Isn’t it another perfect spot on the lawn to set out your blanket and wine glasses and enjoy a concert? We think so.

The Barrel Room is a beautiful location to host a wedding. There is ample parking and the venue can hold up to 225 guests. I fell in love with the lighting in the barrel room – it is so pretty!

Cases of wine line the walls underneath romantically lit awnings.

Wine barrels perfectly stacked and lined up provide a unique background for large group events or weddings.

These Harry Potter themed wine barrels were kept in the barrel room after a guest’s event.

Here is the tasting menu and the Columbia Winery barrel room concert schedule. On Sundays during the summer you can find local live music playing from 2-5 pm.

Here is the small bites menu offering delicious flatbreads, cheese plates, Mediterranean spreads and other delectable treats. These treats are the perfect addition to your wine tasting.

Here is Brooke helping Carrie at the tasting counter. We both took home bottles of the Grenache Rosé and wonderfully scented candles from the gift shop.
Columbia Winery is open from 11-6 Saturday through Thursday and 11-7 on Friday.  They are located at 14030 NE 145th Street, Woodinville, WA 98072
Call them at  (425) 482-7490.  Head out to Woodinville and pay them a visit!
