Enjoying Orca Wines on an Afternoon that Finally Feels like Summer

After a cloudy, rainy week here in the Pacific Northwest, we were delighted to finally have warm weather and sunshine in my backyard this weekend! I invited a yardless friend to come enjoy sunshine, wine and leisurely book and magazine reading with me.

We’re in the habit of lighting bonfires for my backyard parties, but didn’t feel the need to – it was already so nice and warm out! We wanted to feel like we were having some sort of camping adventure, though, so we thought it appropriate to haul out my chilled Orca canned wines. They’re made here in the Seattle area!

When you’re already tacky enough to drink wine out of a can, we thought there was no need to classy things up by bringing out wine glasses into my yard. Why not just drink from the can while we read our magazines?

Orca’s canned wines come in Red Wine, Rose Wine, White Wine, and Bubbly varieties. They’re available at the Silver Lake Winery tasting room here in Woodinville.

I chose (and enjoyed) the white wine, and my friend was super curious about the Rose wine so chose that one.

We’d eaten a big lunch together, so my friend and I didn’t feel the need for snacks. Still, I try to be a good hostess, so I brought out some colorful, summery buttercream frosted flower cookies I ordered recently from Cheryl’s Cookies.

We spent an enjoyable afternoon sunning ourselves, sharing tastes of each of the wine varieties (Bubbly was a big hit) and flipping through lifestyle and cooking magazines.

Perhaps tomorrow I’ll be more industrious and work in the garden or something, but relaxing today felt really great!
